Welcome to the South Somerset Choral Society

The Society was formed over 40 years ago and has staged concerts at least twice a year ever since. They usually take place in December and March or April. There are also other special public events and several social events during the year.

Membership

No audition is necessary. Prospective members are invited to attend a rehearsal or two before they commit themselves, if they wish. Rehearsals are held weekly on Thursday evenings in the new Barrington Village Hall at 7.30pm.
A number of social events take place through the year, including an annual dinner and skittles evenings, and opportunities to sing carols or to take part in additional musical events, usually in the summer and often in aid of local charities.
There were extra celebrations in 2007, which marked the Society's 40th anniversary.

Friends of the South Somerset Choral Society

By joining the 'Friends' of the Society for a modest subscription, you will not only be able to buy concert tickets at discounted rates and reserve seats, but you will also be supporting the Society and helping it to perform large scale or new works, both of which are very expensive to stage.
